_____________________________________________________________________ 05/08/1996 SONIC TECHNOTE: Supra GTE Installation Tips and Guide Tech Note Wiring up the Supra GTE Kit is a very easy and straight forward job, but you need to be sitting in the car and have the Glove Box, lower left and lower right dash panels removed, as well you will need the Dash Gauge Cluster removed so you can connect your wires to the gauge cluster connectors. *All the GTE Kit connectors, B1, M1 and kit parts Fuel Resistor and Relay are located in the glove box area of the car. The only part of the GTE kit that goes under the hood is C1, it goes in the lid of the under hood fuse box. See GTE Manual and pictures. *The ECU mounts in the factory location from the 5M-GE ECU location but one dash support bracket to right of glove box must be removed to make room for the larger 7M-GTE ECU, but with the support removed the 7M-GT ECU fits right into the factory location from the 5M-GE ECU. You will need to move some of the mounting hardware from the 5M ECU to the 7M-GTE ECU. *Then plug in the 7M-GTE Engine wire to the ECU, Plug the B1 GTE harness plugging into the 7M-GTE engine wire. There is only one wire you will need to run in from the engine bay as described in your GTE Manual this is the 30 Amp service wire to the EFI Main Relay. See your GTE Manual for more info as well as the pictures that show the wire coming through the factory hole in the drivers side fire wall. *Mount the Fuel pump relay and resistor to the right on the right inside dash door pillar, there is room there for the Resistor and the Relay. See GTE Manual for more info on this if not clear. *M1 GTE Connector plugs directly into the M1 7M-GTE Engine Wire. *The long GTE wires labeled Tacho, Water temp, Oil Pressure and Check engine including the long Red/Black fuel pump wire all run over in the to the drivers side of the dash. Simply cut the the corresponding MK II Gauge cluster signal wires for Tacho, Water temp, Oil Pressure and Check Engine at the gauge cluster connectors, be sure to leave yourself about one inch of wire at the MK II gauge connector so it is easy to simply connect your GTE Kit wires for Tacho, Water temp, Oil Pressure and Check engine to the MK II gauge cluster connectors as described in your GTE Manual. These wires should be soldered and heat shrink-ed or connected with good scotch lock electrical connectors, I use solder. *The Black and Reg Fuel pump wire will hook up on the left side dash Door pillar electrical JB location as described in the GTE Manual.
